BIOGRAPHY
After studying landscape painting alongside Corot and Dupré in Paris and Fontainebleau from 1834–40, Anthony was among the first British artists to introduce the new Barbizon style of direct plein-air painting. Upon settling in London the artist was in contact with Ford Madox Brown, Goodwin and other Pre-Raphaelites. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, British Institution and the Society of British Artists.
