VENCESLAS BROZIK

Austrian, 1851-1901

BIOGRAPHY
Brozik was born near Pilsen in Bohemia.  He began his training at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Prague and continued it at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Munich.  He worked in the studio of von Piloty in 1873, and by 1876 he was studying with Léon Bonnat in Paris.  Brozik's first of many exhibits at the Paris Salon took place in 1877.  Brozik was a  professor at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Prague, where he died in 1901.  In France his achievements were recognized with election to the Légion d'Honneur in 1890 and to the Académie des Beaux-Arts.  His works are in the collections of museums in Berlin, Dublin, Prague and Vienna.
