BIOGRAPHY
A British landscape artist, Alfred de Breanski is best known for his views of Wales and the Scottish Highlands. His father, Leopold Breanski, was also a painter, as were his younger brother and sister. He showed his first landscape painting at the Royal Academy in 1872, which was purchased by the Bishop of Peterborough.
He traveled often to Wales and Scotland searching for wild landscapes. In 1873, he married Annie Roberts, a Welsh painter. The couple had seven children, two of which also became painters. He also exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Cambrian Academy, and continued showing at the Royal Academy until he withdrew from public life in 1918.
