Wissant is a seaside commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region.  It was an active artist colony between 1889 and 1914 with artists such as Pierre Carrier-Belleuse, Virginie Demont-Breton, and Paul-Emile Boutigny painting alongside Lhermitte during this period.
