BIOGRAPHY
'Pierre Félix Fix-Masseau studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He obtained a travel scholarship in 1879 enabling him to visit Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Italy and especially Florence. He obtained a silver medal in 1900 at the Exposition Universelle. He was the principal of the École Nationale d'Art Décoratif in Limoges until 1935.
He took part in many collective exhibitions: in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Français, and in 1890 at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, of which he was an associate member. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur in 1907.
A renowned sculptor and creator of many busts, among them Anna de Noailles, he was also an initiator of Art Nouveau and designed numerous artefacts in that style.' (Benezit, Dictionary of Artists, Gründ, 2006)
