French, Contemporary

BIOGRAPHY
Viktor Koulbak is a French painter of Russian origin. He is known for reintroducing the spirit and techniques of the Renaissance masters, in particular silver point to contemporary art.  Koulbak was born in 1946 in Moscow, where he studied at the Art School from 1958 - 1964.  In 1966 he was admitted to the Polygraphic Institute of Moscow, where he studied for three years.  He earned a living through work as an illustrator.  Three exhibitions in which he tried to show his work were closed down within hours of opening due to Soviet censorship. In 1975 he left Russia, and is currently based in Malta. He has exhibited work in France, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Japan, Italy, England, Austria, Germany, Malta, Canada and the United States.
