BIOGRAPHY
Born in London, Ernest Albert Waterlow studied in Germany, Switzerland, and the London Royal Academy Schools. He enjoyed much success in landscape painting and was awarded the Turner medal in 1873. In 1880 he was elected associate of the Royal Watercolor Society, became a full member in 1894, and president in 1897. He was also elected associate of the Royal Academy in 1890, academician in 1903, and was knighted in 1902. Today his work is held in many museums, including the Tate Collection, London.
